Job summary

Lorien is seeking a Head of Engineering in Manchester (Hybrid) to lead the software engineering, architecture and QA functions for a high-growth, regulated digital business. You will build leadership capability, scale teams and drive platform health while enforcing strong security and compliance standards.

The role focuses on PKI, payments, and user account management within a PCI-DSS and ISO 27001 framework, delivering high-quality, safe releases in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience scaling engineering teams in a fast-growing environment.
• Strong understanding of modern software engineering practices and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Scale the Team: size and resource Software Engineering, Architecture and QA; measure and improve processes.
• Lead Engineering Managers: develop leadership layer and career framework with HR.
• Drive Engineering Standards: promote CI/CD, automation, and QA; increase throughput with quality.
• Own Platform Health: monitor production and resolve issues before they affect customers.
• Secure the Platform: oversee identity, PKI, payments; ensure PCI-DSS and ISO 27001 compliance.
