Role: Head of Engineering - Platform

As the Head of Engineering - Platform at Keyrock, you will lead our engineering teams in developing and maintaining our core trading data platform systems. We seek a hands-on leader experienced in building scalable, resilient, high-performance systems who is also willing to actively contribute technically. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments, has a strong track record in managing engineers, fosters collaboration, and drives product initiatives while engaging deeply with technical challenges.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and maintain large-scale, high-performance trading data platforms focusing on low latency and high availability.
• Design efficient, scalable, and fault-tolerant data pipelines for trading, risk management, and reporting.
• Ensure seamless integration between trading and backoffice systems to improve operational efficiency and automation.
• Lead cloud-native infrastructure initiatives using AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
• Implement GitOps workflows to automate deployment, enhance observability, and govern systems.
• Promote a culture of security, compliance, and financial accountability within development processes.
• Optimize data storage and retrieval strategies balancing performance, cost, and compliance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance platform capabilities.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship, fostering innovation and growth.
• Stay updated with emerging trends in cloud infrastructure, security, and blockchain technologies.

Technical Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in building and maintaining large-scale, high-performance trading data platforms.
• Strong expertise in Rust (or C++), Python, and TypeScript for system development and automation.
• Deep understanding of data engineering principles, including data modeling, ETL, and stream processing.
• Experience with financial data workflows, including trading and backoffice operations.
• Extensive experience with AWS and cloud-native architectures.
• Proficiency with GitOps tools and methodologies.
• Strong background in DevSecFinOps ensuring compliance, security, and cost efficiency.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD, IaC, and monitoring tools.

Leadership & Collaboration

• Experience managing engineering teams, fostering collaboration and innovation.
• Strong interpersonal skills for cross-team communication.
• Ability to translate technical concepts for business stakeholders.
• Passion for building scalable, reliable, and secure systems in fast environments.

Nice to Have

• Experience in crypto trading infrastructure or traditional finance.
• Knowledge of blockchain protocols, smart contracts, and DeFi.
• Experience with high-frequency or algorithmic trading.

Location: UK or Europe preferred. Remote and flexible options available.
