Job summary

Lloyds Banking Group is seeking an Engineering Lead to shape the data and AI ecosystem, guiding architecture and driving adoption of modern data and ML practices. You will mentor teams, align with Product and Architecture, and deliver scalable platforms that create measurable business value.

In this role you will partner across Data Science, Analytics and engineering to define roadmaps, raise engineering standards, and deliver customer-centric data products that power decisioning,

Qualifications

  • Significant experience designing, building and operating large-scale distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Python, SQL and modern software engineering practices.
  • Experience building large-scale batch and streaming data solutions using Spark, Kafka, Flink, Beam or equivalent.
  • Deep knowledge of modern data architectures including data warehouses, data lakes and lakehouse platforms.
  • Strong understanding of analytical data modelling, dimensional modelling and data product design.
  • Experience designing data structures and models that support reporting, self-service analytics, ML and AI use cases.
  • Understanding GenAI architecture patterns including vector databases, retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings and LLM orchestration frameworks.
  • Knowledge of MLOps, model lifecycle management, observability and AI governance practices.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as GCP, Azure or AWS and associated platform services.
  • Strong understanding of containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD, infrastructure automation and DevSecOps practices.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the engineering roadmap in partnership with Product, Architecture, Data Science and business stakeholders.

  • Mentor, coach and develop engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation, continuous learning and engineering excellence.
