About this opportunity:

We're looking for an experienced Engineering Lead to step into a senior-level technical leadership role with influence and vision. If you're passionate about technology, growth, and delivering innovative data solutions at scale, we want to hear from you.

You’ll be part of the Enterprise Data Provisioning Platform, helping shape the organisation’s ambition to unlock the full value of data by delivering secure, efficient data capabilities across the business. With a modern tech stack and cutting-edge tools, this is a great time to join and make a meaningful impact.

What you’ll be doing:

We’re building a state-of-the-art data mesh architecture on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to support decentralised, self-serve data products across diverse teams.

In this role, you’ll define the engineering vision and align teams for successful delivery—enhancing how we work and improving the overall engineering experience. If you're passionate about scalable architecture and data democratisation, this is the role for you.

You will:

  • Drive the engineering vision and technical strategy
  • Lead the development of secure, scalable, high-performing software products
  • Set engineering standards and solve complex challenges
  • Influence product direction and architecture, advising senior leadership
  • Collaborate across teams to deliver the engineering roadmap
  • Foster a culture of experimentation, learning, and continuous improvement
  • Oversee multiple delivery initiatives, roadmaps, budgets, and resources
  • Stay current with tech trends to ensure innovation and competitiveness

What skills you’ll need:

  • Software Engineering: Deep understanding of the software lifecycle, from design to deployment
  • Cloud Platforms: Experience with GCP, Azure, or AWS
  • Technical Leadership: Ability to set standards, align with business objectives, and mentor engineering teams
  • Tech Delivery: Leadership across complex, cross-platform deliveries
  • Values: Growth mindset with a commitment to business and customer outcomes
  • Leadership: Inclusive, empowering, and strategic—able to inspire and develop others

Bonus points for experience with:

  • Data Engineering & AI: Familiarity with data mesh principles and automation using AI
  • GCP Expertise: BigQuery, Data Fusion, Cloud Composer, IAM, etc.
  • Cloud Migrations: Leading cloud-based data transitions
  • Metrics: Setting objectives and measuring success

Why join us?

We’re evolving rapidly—investing in people, data, and technology to meet modern challenges. Be part of a purpose-driven journey that values innovation, impact, and growth.

We also offer a competitive benefits package:

  • Pension contribution up to 15%
  • Performance-related annual bonus
  • Share schemes

  • Up to 30 days holiday (plus bank holidays)
