Job summary

McLaren Automotive Limited seeks Engineering Industrial Placement interns for a 12-month program in Woking, Surrey. You will rotate through departments such as Vehicle Development and Design Engineering, supporting design, development, and delivery of high-performance road cars.

You will work with engineers and specialists on live projects, gaining hands-on experience with McLaren’s engineering processes. A passion for cars and a strong engineering mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• Currently studying an Engineering degree at a UK university and aiming for a 2:1 or above.
• Strong interest in high-performance vehicle design and development.
• Enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced engineering environment.
• Analytical thinking and the ability to tackle complex engineering challenges.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Familiarity with CAD software, simulation tools or engineering analysis is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support component and system design activities using CAD and simulation tools.
• Assist in prototype builds and testing, gathering and analysing performance data.
• Contribute to design validation activities to meet performance and durability targets.
• Help develop and refine engineering processes and documentation.
• Participate in engineering change requests and design reviews.
• Collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams to resolve technical queries.
• Support vehicle and rig testing programmes, analysing results and providing recommendations.
