About the Role

To support Amentum's worldwide $14B F25 workload and our portfolio of geotechnical projects within the Defence, Nuclear Power, Environment, and Critical Infrastructure industries, we are looking to expand our Ground Engineering team in the UK. We seek Engineering Geologists and Geotechnical Engineers at various experience levels, including:

  • Engineering Geologist and Geotechnical Engineers
  • Senior Engineering Geologist and Geotechnical Engineers (Chartered or nearing)

We offer flexible working arrangements, with options for office-based and remote work. The Bristol office is preferred, but other locations like Oxford, Reading, London, or Glasgow are also possible.

As a Ground Engineering Professional, your role involves managing ground risks through geotechnical assessments, analysis, design, and construction supervision for projects across the UK and internationally. Responsibilities include:

  • Preliminary studies, feasibility, value engineering, innovation, and sustainability assessments
  • Ground investigations, including advanced testing and data management
  • Ground characterization, modeling, and analysis of soil and rock
  • Numerical and finite element analysis of geotechnical issues, including seismic and dynamic analysis
  • Design of sustainable structures such as foundations, retaining walls, basements, earthworks, and ground improvement techniques
  • Preparation of construction specifications and technical assurance

Requirements:
Experience or exposure to some of the following is desirable:

  • Knowledge of ground engineering, geology, soil and rock mechanics
  • Experience with standards and codes of practice
  • Geotechnical desk studies, field mapping, and geomorphological assessments
  • Ground investigation design, supervision, and data analysis
  • Ground modeling and characterization
  • Geotechnical analysis and design for foundations, retaining structures, earthworks, etc.
  • Proficiency with software like OpenGround, Leapfrog, GEO5, RocScience, WellCad, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, MathCAD
  • Degree in Engineering Geology, Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or equivalent
