Overview

We are seeking an environmental engineer or engineering geologist with at least 2 years’ experience working in the ground investigation industry to join our award-winning team. On joining, you’ll support and deliver the environmental aspects on a wide range of projects in the South East and across the country.

CGL has a proven track record of developing geologists and engineers into Chartered professionals by giving them opportunities to grow and develop industry skills that are highly sought after.

There are opportunities to work with our other offices whilst receiving specialist training and support from an extensive network of talented engineers and consultants. This would be an excellent role for an established, confident engineer looking to take the next step in their career.

Key responsibilities

  1. Knowledgeable of ground investigation techniques and ability to arrange and manage site investigations and projects.
  2. Responsible for organising and managing ground investigations, sampling programmes, and site supervision as needed.
  3. Preparation of health and safety documentation.
  4. Support and development of more junior team members.
  5. Ability to write proposals and develop strong client relationships.
  6. Assessing data and writing factual reports.
  7. Commitment to continued professional development.
  8. Liaison between site teams and the project director.

Attributes

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  1. Have a BSc in a STEM discipline, such as geology, engineering geology, environmental science or a relevant subject (MSc preferable).
  2. Working towards chartership in a relevant discipline.
  3. Awareness of relevant legislation and best-practice guidance.
  4. Be willing to work outdoors and travel to suit the needs of the projects.
  5. Good written and verbal communication skills.
  6. Ability to self-manage and work to tight deadlines.
  7. Good organisational skills and ability to multi-task.
  8. Must possess a full UK Driving Licence, with ability and willingness to travel as needed for projects.
  9. Flexible working arrangements and remote working but linked to an office.
  10. Pension.
  11. Training support and mentoring to achieve Chartership.
