Job summary

Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City seeks an Engineering Support Supervisor to oversee inspections of sanitary sewer and stormwater infrastructure projects. You will ensure compliance with engineering plans, regulatory requirements, and project specs, while guiding field teams and coordinating with contractors and staff.

Minimum qualifications include an Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technologies and three years of engineering technician experience, plus proficiency in

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technologies or related field with 3 years of engineering technician experience or equivalent.
• Experience in construction inspection, public works, utilities or civil infrastructure preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and inspection documentation software.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Inspect sanitary sewer and storm drainage projects for compliance with plans and regulations.
• Inspect new sewer service taps and sewer abandonment work connected to City mains.
• Monitor installation of sewer mains, manholes, catch basins, and related infrastructure.
• Verify pipe alignment, grade, bedding, backfill, and material quality during construction.
• Document testing including pressure, leakage, and compaction tests.
• Maintain inspection reports, photographs, and project records.
• Identify deficiencies and coordinate corrective actions with contractors and staff.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, city standards and engineering specs.
• Assist with project closeout documentation and acceptance.
