Job summary

The Twenty Two London invites applications for a Director of Engineering to lead and develop the engineering function across its luxury hotel and private club. You will drive the engineering strategy, manage budgets, and oversee maintenance, safety systems, and specialist contractors on site at a world-class Mayfair property.

This hands-on leadership role requires deep knowledge of HVAC, BMS, fire and life safety, and UK compliance, with experience in heritage or listed buildings preferred.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading an engineering or maintenance team in a 5-star hotel or private members club.
• Recognised trade or engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds in electrical or mechanical).
• Ideally 18th Edition Wiring Regulations and IOSH or NEBOSH certificate.
• Strong working knowledge of HVAC, BMS, fire and life safety systems and UK statutory compliance.
• Experience managing budgets, contractors and capital projects.
• Experience with listed or heritage buildings is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver an engineering strategy focused on safety, sustainability and guest experience.
• Prepare and manage the engineering budget with senior management.
• Lead improvements across the property and supervise maintenance across hotel and club.
• Oversee IT, telephone and AV infrastructure, asset inventory and stock control.
• Ensure all statutory testing and inspections are completed and recorded on time.
• Manage and develop engineering team, including appraisals and rota planning.
• Coordinate with security on life safety systems and drills.
