Job description

We want to make investments in growing our London presence to tap into the talent pool outside North America and establish close partnerships with the GenAI and RecSys teams there. We have a small team in London (Feature Store) and are currently bootstrapping a new multi-disciplinary team with expertise in Distributed Systems, Performance Engineering, and domain-specific knowledge (ML Systems, MLEs) to work on a high-visibility project: building a heterogeneous workload optimization engine on top of the Monarch Single Controller framework. As we expand our AI Infrastructure presence in London, we plan to move additional project work there.

Engineering Director, AI Infra Responsibilities

1. Build, manage, and support diverse teams of software engineers and engineering managers.
2. Handle dependencies, partnerships, and customer relationships; require a highly technical candidate with understanding of scalable distributed systems, HPC scheduling, and ML (bonus).
3. Provide technical and organizational leadership.
4. Form cross-functional and cross-discipline partnerships to drive engineering efforts.
5. Establish effective strategies and execute them.
6. Uphold a culture of respect, integrity, inclusion, and innovation.

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience building and supporting large-scale distributed systems.
• Significant technical industry experience.
• Extensive management experience.
• Proven ability to recruit, structure, lead technical organizations, and manage performance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with Machine Learning.
• Experience with HPC.
• Experience building AI infrastructure systems at scale.
