Job summary

Ernest Gordon Recruitment Limited is seeking a Design Manager (Engineering) in Portsmouth. You will lead a small design team and own the company\'s design and drawing processes, producing detailed 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings using Autodesk Inventor.

The role focuses on reviewing existing processes, introducing new technologies including AI-assisted design, and helping develop CAM and manufacturing capabilities to support expansion into Europe.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• Experience in a lead CAD design or mechanical design role.
• Proficient in Autodesk Inventor.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a Design Engineering team (currently two engineers).
• Own the company's design and engineering drawing processes.
• Produce detailed 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
• Create drawings with appropriate tolerances, materials and finishes.
• Review and streamline design processes for efficiency and accuracy.
• Introduce new technology, including AI-assisted design tools.
• Support CAM development and increased production capabilities.
