Job Description for Engineering Design Manager:

Collaborate with leading scientists and contribute to projects that benefit society by advancing cleaner energy, protecting the environment, and ensuring safety.

The role offers flexibility in location, with options to be based at Sellafield or Risley.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Leadership within Engineering: Ensure design standards and practices are properly deployed; discharge duties of the CDM Principal Designer; engage subject matter experts effectively; ensure solutions meet performance and safety requirements; generate necessary documentation for safety and legal compliance; provide leadership to multidisciplinary engineering teams; build stakeholder relationships; support continuous improvement activities.
2. Project Management: Deliver and control work portfolios efficiently; ensure design solutions are fit for purpose and deliver the business case; identify and manage technical, safety, and engineering risks; report on work status; assign appropriate SQEP design resources.

Essential Criteria:

• HNC Engineering qualification
• Incorporated Engineer membership
• Significant experience in a regulated, quality-assured engineering management role
• Ability to obtain SC security clearance

Desirable Criteria:

• MEng (Hons) qualification
• Chartered Engineer membership or equivalent experience
• Experience in the nuclear industry, preferably at Sellafield
