Engineering Design Manager - Engineering Innovation & Delivery
Location: Salford (Hybrid & Flexible Working)
Salary: Up to £86,000 + Package
Contract Type: Permanent

A leading engineering organisation is seeking an Engineering Design Manager to lead the delivery of complex mechanical systems across a range of high-value, safety-critical projects. This is a key leadership role with responsibility for technical direction, team development, and design governance.

The Engineering Design Manager Role

Lead and manage a team of up to 10 engineers
Oversee engineering design from concept through to manufacture
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards
Drive FEED and Design for Manufacture best practices
Act as a senior technical authority in design reviews and risk assessments
Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders to align design with delivery goals
Identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement

What We're Looking For

A strong academic background in Mechanical or General Engineering (MEng, MSc preferred)
Chartered Engineer status, or actively working towards it
Significant experience delivering bespoke engineering design projects, with a proven track record in leadership roles
Deep understanding of high-integrity systems and working within regulated industries
Hands-on experience with FEED, Design for Manufacture, and full lifecycle engineering
A confident communicator and team leader, able to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels
Must be eligible to obtain SC clearance within 6 months of joining
