Job Description for Engineering Design Manager:

The role is flexible in location, based at Sellafield or Risley.

Main Responsibilities for Engineering Design Manager:

1. Lead the Engineering team, ensuring design standards and practices are properly deployed, safe, legal, and compliant with UKNNL's processes.
2. Manage the duties of the CDM Principal Designer.
3. Engage subject matter experts timely, capturing and disseminating lessons learned effectively.
4. Ensure design solutions meet performance demands, preserve design intent, and align with plant configuration.
5. Generate necessary documentation for safety, legal compliance, and plant commissioning.
6. Provide leadership to multidisciplinary engineering teams.
7. Build strong relationships with stakeholders within Engineering and UKNNL.
8. Support continuous improvement initiatives within Engineering.
9. Manage project delivery to meet scope, cost, and schedule objectives.
10. Ensure design solutions are fit for purpose, affordable, and aligned with business cases and specifications.
11. Identify, own, and manage technical, safety, and engineering risks.
12. Maintain accurate reporting on project status and performance.
13. Assign appropriate SQEP Design resources to projects.

Essential Criteria for Engineering Design Manager:

• HNC in Engineering.
• Incorporated Engineer membership.
• Significant experience in regulated, quality-assured engineering management roles.
• Ability to obtain SC security clearance.

Desirable Criteria:

• MEng (Hons) qualification.
• Chartered Engineer membership or equivalent experience.
• Experience in the nuclear industry, preferably at Sellafield, in engineering management.
