About The Role

Our Department Managers work at a fast pace across various departments with the common goal of delivering great food to our customers. As a Department Manager - Engineering, you will ensure the Engineering team meets the demands of our busy factories and minimizes machinery downtime. Reporting to the Site Engineering Manager, your responsibilities include:

  1. Planning and prioritizing work to minimize machinery downtime and optimize resource use.
  2. Leading and supporting the asset care programme, demonstrating its principles, and actively repairing and improving equipment reliability.
  3. Coordinating maintenance priorities with the Maintenance team and planning ahead to prevent production disruptions, working closely with the site production team.
  4. Managing crisis incidents, accidents, and near-miss investigations, and maintaining discipline standards in line with company procedures.
  5. Ensuring the reliability of all equipment assets.

About You

Besides resilience, you should have:

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent (e.g., ONC in mechanical/electrical engineering, BTEC Level 3 in mechanical & electrical/electronic engineering).
  • A proven track record in engineering and fault finding within an FMCG environment, ideally in the food industry.
  • Experience in leading and delivering results through team management.
  • Knowledge of HACCP principles; IEE qualification up to 17th edition wiring regulations is advantageous. Strong leadership and coaching skills to motivate and develop diverse teams.
