Engineering Contracts Manager – 12 Month Contract

Day Rate: £600 – £650 (DOE)

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Contracts Manager to join a leading Rolling Stock organisation on a 12-month contract. This role is to cover a key interim position, working within supplier development and engineering to deliver operational excellence across the rail supply chain.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead supplier development initiatives for Siemens Rolling Stock, driving improvements in reliability, quality, and on-time delivery.
- Implement Lean methodologies and risk management tools (FMEA, SPC, 8D) to resolve supplier performance issues and enhance supply chain efficiency.
- Manage projects involving reverse engineering of legacy train parts, collaborating closely with engineering and procurement teams to deliver cost-effective, timely solutions.
- Define and monitor supplier KPIs, developing improvement plans to reduce NCRs and strengthen long-term supplier relationships.
- Ensure adherence to rail industry standards (EN15085 & EN6701) for welding and bonding, coordinating with cross-functional teams including suppliers, engineering, procurement, and quality.
- Support obsolescence management and engineering change projects critical to sustaining rolling stock operations.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Supplier Development Manager, Engineering Contracts Manager, or similar within Rolling Stock / Rail.
- Strong knowledge of Lean practices, supplier quality improvement, and risk management tools.
- Track record in successfully managing supplier performance and driving engineering solutions for complex, safety-critical components.
- Familiarity with industry standards (EN15085 & EN6701) and regulatory compliance in rail manufacturing.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence suppliers and lead cross-functional teams.
- Immediately available or short notice preferred.
