  • Reporting to the site Asset Care Manager, this role has responsibility for managing an engineering team in the execution of the Asset Care Strategy to ensure that equipment performance is maximised and optimised.

    This role will provide support and guidance ensuring the engineering team has the tools and skills to execute the asset care strategy efficiently and effectively and support the operational teams with AM activities


    As a part of the Engineering function, this role will work with the site and strive to achieve optimal operational efficiency at the lowest cost through the delivery of targets against the strategic objectives of the function:

  • Work closely with the Asset Care Manager, Engineering/Operational teams to support the delivery of an agreed manufacturing vision and strategy.


    Key Responsibilities
  • Safety, Quality, Hygiene
  • Undertake duties in a responsible manner giving due consideration to Safety, Environmental & Quality procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to all H&S work procedures and policies e.g. Lock Off and Tag out and Use of the “Permit to Work system.
  • Personally demonstrate safe behaviour and take responsibility for the management of health & safety of engineering team and contractors
  • Undertake accident and Near Miss Investigations.
  • Ensure areas achieve and maintain required GMP standards
  • To maintain product Food Safety, Legality, Integrity, Authenticity and Quality standards by ensuring all associated policies and procedures are adhered to.



  • Asset Care Management
  • Work with the Asset Care Manager, Planners and Reliability engineers to develop effective AM and PrM plans for the site, providing feedback and recommendations for improvements based on work executed and failure investigations.
  • Drive the team to deliver the weekly/monthly and annual maintenance plans, and reactive work.
  • Drive team engagement and support of production on a day/day activities and SIC meetings.
  • Drive the use and development of SAP PM and other systems to drive planning and control and focussed improvements by ensuring all work is recorded and closed out.
  • Ensure that all spares are booked out in SAP and support the stores in determining required stock levels, redundant and obsolete stock.
  • Manage/Develop People
  • Manage and motivate Team. Set and monitor targets for Teams performance.
  • Recruit and manage staff as a first line manager via coaching, regular 1:1’s with direct reports.
  • Manage, develop and motivate the team, ensuring they have the appropriate skills, knowledge and experience necessary to undertake their duties effectively
  • Manage people via the agreed company policies and procedures. e.g. Ensure all return-to-work interviews are completed on the first day. Document all discussions and correspondence in relation to absence.
  • To be responsible for contract and Princes labour, ensuring good discipline and that factory standards and rules are conformed to at all times.

  • Continuous Improvement
  • Promote and drive 5S and GMP and other continuous improvement tools to identify areas for improvement to enhance quality, safety, efficiency and waste reduction
  • Continually review performance, identifying and implementing opportunities to improve performance.

  • Communication
  • Work closely with support functions (HR, Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain) to ensure production plans, improvement targets and HR) issues are achieved.
  • Communicate daily with Engineering Planner and Manufacturing to ensure planned/reactive maintenance is actioned, and production priorities are considered. Ensuring that all parties agree to plant downtime plan for maintenance.
  • Meet with team daily ensuring that good quality start of and end of shift briefings take place.
  • Ensuring that both verbal and written communication is succinct, shift handovers are carried out including the Maintenance Log completed.
  • Ensure communication to other teams and peers are undertaken for efficient and effective transition and sharing of best practice.
  • Role Requirements
  • HNC caliber in a relevant engineering discipline, hands-on experience with a demonstrable track record of success of achieving results/managing change.
  • Strong operational grounding within a complex fast-moving manufacturing environment, preferably FMCG background.
  • Understanding of SSOW
  • Experience of managing teams and dealing with Trade Unions.
  • Understands what good looks like in a manufacturing environment.
  • Operated and familiar with implementation of the principles of World Class Manufacturing environments/Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Good working knowledge of operating systems such as SAP, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
