Contract Engineering Buyer

Immediate start available;

6 months (T-P potential)

Hours - Monday - Friday - Flex around start/finish time and early finish Friday

Fantastic opportunity for a motivated and results-driven Buyer / Purchasing professional to undertake a varied role with ongoing development opportunities within a prestigious business supporting high-end electro-mechanical products.

The Buyer’s role will be to support the current team within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Working as part of the core supply chain team, you will be responsible for supporting the purchasing of direct parts and related items for manufacture across an electro-mechanical commodity range, including electronic components, PCBs, metalwork (machined and fabricated items), and other consumables.

You will receive training and development to enhance your skills in areas such as supporting project teams during new product development and supplier evaluation. Attitude and passion to develop are key.

Responsibilities for the Buyer will include:

1. Providing purchasing input to support new products and suppliers
2. Placing purchase orders on the MRP / ERP system
3. Ensuring the lowest overall cost of acquisition
4. Supporting New Product Development projects from a purchasing perspective
5. Expediting and ensuring suppliers deliver products to agreed delivery dates
6. Monitoring supplier performance and conducting supplier assessments (working with the supplier quality team)
7. Sourcing new suppliers for obsolete or hard-to-source items

To succeed in this role, you will either be an experienced engineering or production buyer seeking to own and grow the role or someone looking to further develop their purchasing skills.

• Background in engineering, manufacturing, or production buying/procurement
• ERP/MRP or SAP experience
• Hands-on purchasing and expediting ability
