A leading company in CNC machining and 3D printing is offering an exciting Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship. Over three years, apprentices will receive extensive training in both practical skills and academic principles at a purpose-built facility. Ideal candidates possess a minimum of 5 GCSEs and a passion for manufacturing, particularly in motorsport.
Progressive Technology is a subcontract multi axis CNC machining and Metal 3D Printing specialist for Motorsport, Medical, Aerospace and Military in a modern clean high speck facility.
Our apprenticeship scheme provides students with the knowledge and training they need to pursue a career in engineering. At Progressive Technology, the first year of the apprenticeship will be spent in our recently opened 5,500sq.ft purpose-built training academy, with full support provided by our Apprentice Training Manager and fulltime Apprentice Trainers. You will learn basic machining and hand fitting skills, progressing onto basic CNC machining through a series of supervised machining tasks, you will manufacture number of engineering tools and components.

In addition to the hands-on machining training listed above, you will also receive monthly academic classroom-based training.
In your first year you will have the opportunity to experience training in other departments such as CNC 3-Axis & 5-Axis Milling, CNC Turning, CNC Cylindrical Grinding, Material Stores, First-off Inspection, Quality Assurance, EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) and DMLS (Metal 3D Printing).
Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship 3 Years:
After the successful completion of your first year Level 2 qualification, you will have the opportunity to progress to Level 3 for years 2 & 3 You will transfer from the Academy to the main manufacturing facility, where you will continue to develop your skills working in various departments throughout the factory.
Technician Engineering Apprenticeship 4 Years:
After your first year at Level 3, you will transfer from the Academy to the main manufacturing facility where you will continue your level 3 for year 2, developing your skills by working in various departments throughout the factory.
After the successful completion of your Level 3 qualification, you will continue to develop your skills and education progressing to Level 4 HNC qualification in years 3 & 4.
Qualifications Required:
Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship:
A minimum of 5 GCSE’s (or equivalent) at grade 5 or above, including Mathematics, English, Science or equivalent knowledge and experience.
Technician Engineering Apprenticeship:
A minimum of 5 GCSE’s (or equivalent) at grade 7 or above or A-Levels, including Mathematics, English, Science or equivalent knowledge and experience
Skills Required:
Ability to become an outstanding team player, being able to have a hands-on approach to work and communicate with a diverse range of people to achieve excellent results.
An enthusiastic approach to work and willingness to learn.
Strong numeracy skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Passion for a career within the manufacturing sector
Has an interested in Formula 1 / Motorsport
Working Hours:
40 hours from 8am until 4.30pm
Salary:
First Year £7.55 per hour
Competitive rates on completion of the first year.
