Machining Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard:

The 4-year apprenticeship program is structured in partnership with the college as follows:

• Year One: Gaining skills in understanding & reading engineering drawings, fitting, hand tools/techniques, machining, measuring equipment.

• Year Two: Specific training in core areas to develop skills such as manual machining, CNC machining, work holding, inspection.

• Year Three: Developing workshop skills using more focused techniques.

• Year Four: Working towards becoming a skilled operator and improving competence in a chosen specialty.
