What you'll bring to the team

Location: Chessington World of Adventures Resort Leatherhead Road Chessington Surrey KT9 2NE

Where better to start your Engineering career than behind the scenes at Chessington World of Adventures Resort. In this role you will work alongside a team of highly skilled professionals, you will learn all about the Engineering, Maintenance, stores management, Asset management & Compliance at our Resort.

Supported by your studies, you will gain an understanding of the statutory and legislative requirements involved in keeping our guests and business safe at all times. As you develop within your role, you will always have Health & Safety as your number one priority, learning more about Merlin Entertainments and the amazing career you could have working for a global leader in location-based, family entertainment.

In this role you will gain a solid understanding of:

  • Health, Safety and Risk Assessment including manual handling
  • Analytical and scientific methods for Engineers
  • Instrumentation and Control Principles and Applications
  • Mathematics for Engineering Technicians
  • Principles of attraction/ride maintenance strategy and daily, weekly, monthly, annual preventative maintenance
  • Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic and Digital Principles, Processes and Applications
  • Quality Management/Assurance Principles and Safety Management Systems
  • Applications for Pneumatics and Hydraulics
  • Destructive and non-destructive inspection techniques
  • Ride and Attraction maintenance processes, principles and applications
  • Principles of First Aid and supporting the evacuation of customers

Qualifications & Experience

  • You will have achieved a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4 (or equivalent) or above, including Maths, English, Science, and Information & Communications Technology.
  • Energetic and proactive with a passion for engineering and a willingness to learn and develop within our resort engineering department.
  • You will need to demonstrate self-discipline in your approach to both your academic studies and your workplace responsibilities, including punctuality and attendance.
  • A keen eye for detail is essential, as the role involves diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical and electrical issues.
  • A positive, 'can-do' attitude is crucial.
  • You must have excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
