Kepak offers exciting opportunities for individuals looking to start their careers in Engineering. Our goal is to get our products onto shelves quickly for consumers, with our Maintenance team playing a vital role in this process.

Position Details:
Kepak is seeking to recruit an Engineering Apprentice at our factory in Bodmin, Cornwall. You will be supported by a Mentor throughout your apprenticeship, guiding you towards achieving your qualification. This program is an excellent entry point into Engineering and the Food Industry, offering a structured apprenticeship where you earn while you learn, completing a Level 3 Food & Drink Maintenance Engineer apprenticeship standard.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Carrying out effective Planned Preventative Maintenance as directed.
  2. Performing maintenance and rectification works based on audits, inspections, and production reports.
  3. Implementing continual improvements to plant and equipment to reduce failures and enhance site efficiency.
  4. Maintaining workshops, plant rooms, and storage areas to high standards.
  5. Ensuring workshop tools and equipment are maintained and ready for use.
  6. Keeping accurate records of work completed on paper and digital systems.
  7. Supporting the engineering function to minimize production downtime.
  8. Highlighting spare parts requirements and monitoring spares usage via KPIs.
  9. Reporting risks or issues related to safety, product, or equipment quality.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understanding mathematical techniques, formulas, and calculations relevant to maintenance.
  • Learning mechanical, electrical, electronic, fluid power, and process control principles.
  • Understanding how equipment functions and interacts.
  • Developing fault diagnostic skills and understanding condition monitoring methods.
  • Supporting maintenance planning and minimizing machinery downtime.

Salary Structure:
Y1 £17,000
Y2 £20,500
Y3 £24,500
Y4 £30,000
