Job Summary:

Provides engineering and basic technical support for necessary tasks and data collection/input/analysis for various programs as needed.

Work Performed:

  1. Utility System Asset Record Updates
    1. Reviews field conditions and locations of utility assets (water mains, valves, hydrants, service lines, meter pits, easements) and updates system records through mark ups on paper and electronic source documents.
    2. Checks street addresses for asset descriptions and reconciles locations and information of assets in projects files and records.
    3. Compares multiple source documents with as built information, field check where necessary, and collects updated information.
      1. Takes measurements in field including use of GPS devices.
      2. Sketches scaled drawings for as built reference.
      3. Enters information into computer programs including spreadsheets, GIS, WAM, etc.
      4. Consolidates and updates source records and files.
    4. Updates GIS system to reflect observed field conditions, company records as well as as-built and GPS information provided by others.
  2. Provides field observations of construction work being done and prepares daily/as needed inspection reports.
  3. Participates in field testing activities (fire flow testing, operational testing, etc.) and prepares reports on data and findings.

Essential Functions

  1. Data input into spreadsheet, GIS systems and other programs.
  2. Ability to work professionally and represent the Company with coworkers, customers, peers, contractors and officials.
  3. Capability for light physical work.
  4. Work outside within service territory on streets and other public areas where assets are located.

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma with college prep or technical/science/engineering concentrations skills.
  2. At least 1 year of college curriculum completed in an engineering, science or GIS program.
  3. Delaware driver’s license.
  4. Good problem solving ability and analytical skills.
  5. Computer experience in PC based systems including Word, Excel, and GIS/mapping experience.
  6. Ability to perform work independently.
  7. Good communication (verbal and written) skills.

Candidates must possess authorization to work in the United States.

Candidates must be able to pass a drug screen, pre-employment physical, background check, and have a valid driver’s license.
