Your Role

We are seeking to appoint an officer in the Traffic Management Team. The successful applicant will assist with the delivery of the Councils statutory duties under the Highways Act 1980, New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 and Traffic Management Act 2004. Responsibilities will mainly revolve around managing permit applications to undertake works on the public highway through administration of the Greater Manchester Road Activity Permit Scheme. This will include assessment of temporary traffic management proposals, preparation of temporary traffic regulation orders, processing private street works applications and any other licensable activity on the public highway, and will involve site visits. The post holder will be expected to work closely with Councillors, residents and other key stakeholders.

About You

Candidates will ideally come with experience of a Highways & Transportation or Utilities background. You will need to have good communication skills to cope with the high level of customer interaction. Proficiency in Microsoft office suite is essential, and you will be able to confidently adapt to using job specific computer systems, for example Streetmanager, Symology.

As you will be expected to undertake site visits, a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle would be advantageous.

The Streetworks team perform a variety of tasks to co-ordinate all works that take place on the public highway, to minimise disruption on Stockport’s Network whilst works for maintenance, upgrades and development are undertaken.
