* The role can be filled as Engineer I, II, III, or Sr based on qualifications and experience.
JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:
This position, within the Operational Models & Support group in Operational Readiness, performs and analyzes operational studies, including updating models, forecasting loads, and updating procedures.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Update operational planning, real-time contingency analysis, and dynamic stability models of the transmission system.
- Develop and maintain real-time applications and processes.
- Conduct steady-state load flow and dynamic stability studies using software like Power World, State Estimator/Contingency Analysis, VSAT, and TSAT.
- Provide technical support to the Transmission Control Center.
- Coordinate with MISO RTO and other workgroups to develop and update operational models.
- Represent Entergy in industry-wide technical groups such as NERC, SERC, MISO, and NATF.
- Assist with storm/emergency restoration efforts as needed.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, or Industrial).
- Degree in Engineering Technology with PE consideration.
- Preferred: BS Electrical Engineering with power systems emphasis.
Experience:
- Engineer I: 0-2 years; Engineer II: 2-4 years; Engineer III: 4-6 years; Sr Engineer: 6+ years.
- Preferred: 5+ years in power system modeling, analysis, and planning.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong engineering principles and judgment.
- Leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent math, project management, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in PC operations, modeling software, and programming (C#, Python).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work safely.
Certificates/Licenses:
PE Certification preferred.
