Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Birmingham is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to interpret client specifications and develop designs for plumbing and ventilation systems in the Rail environment. Ideal candidates will possess qualifications for Chartership with a UK Engineering Institution and demonstrate strong skills in mechanical design and systems knowledge. This role offers opportunities for professional growth and flexibility in work arrangements, including the ability to work from home part-time.

Qualifications

• Experience interpreting client specifications in designs.
• Ability to design heating, cooling, and plumbing systems.
• Familiarity with mechanical system controls/BMS design.

Responsibilities

• Develop designs based on client specifications.
• Select equipment based on produced designs.
• Design above ground plumbing and drainage systems.

Skills

Mechanical design experience in Rail environment

Knowledge of drainage and waste systems

A little more about your role…

• Interpretation of client specification requirements in the development of designs
• Design of pipework including heating, cooling, hot and cold water systems
• Design of ventilation systems including general ventilation systems
• Selection of plant and equipment items based upon designs produced including but not limited to Air Handling Units, Fans, Pumps, Pressurisation Units, Boilers, Heat emitters, Chillers, Ductwork and ductwork ancillaries, Pipework and pipework ancillaries
