Job Description
Nuclear Safety Engineer
Do you enjoy working in safety critical industries? Do you like delivering solutions to technically complex problems? Join us as a Nuclear Safety Engineer and play a vital role in assessing the risks for our nuclear clients to help them and us to realize our low carbon energy ambitions, shaping a better future for our planet and its people.
Your purpose:
On a typical day working in this role, you might be producing a hazards assessment or authoring a complex safety case, justifying and supporting the critical decision-making in the design, operation, and/or decommissioning of nuclear facilities. You may also work to influence the client’s strategic direction to support obtaining a nuclear site licence for their innovative design, network to develop the business pipeline within your capability, or deliver technical presentations to the regulator.
This role offers the opportunity to work with diverse clients from defence, nuclear generation, and nuclear new build, including innovative players from fusion and SMR markets. You will support technical project delivery, address complex problems, and present solutions to stakeholders. Your drive to deliver excellent technical work, attention to detail, and awareness of the bigger picture are essential.
You will also contribute to and learn from the wider technical community within AtkinsRéalis, leveraging global expertise to foster collaboration. Additionally, you will develop and mentor junior engineers to support growth and improve project delivery capabilities while strengthening your leadership skills.
