Job Title: Engineer – Metrology (Instrumentation Calibration)

Salary: Negotiable depending on experience

What you’ll be doing:

• 
  

  Calibration and repair of a wide range of precision test, measurement and diagnostic equipment (TMDE) against set procedures and technical specifications, including but not limited to gas detection instrumentation, temperature measurement instrumentation and electrical TMDE

  Calibrations may be performed in a laboratory setting or in the field

  
  




• 
  

  Maintain accurate records of work activities including reporting of test results and non-conformances

  
  




• 
  

  Perform on the job training for trainees / apprentices, including development of training content

  
  




• 
  

  Contribute to creation and maintenance of calibration procedures including automated procedures and uncertainty budgets

  
  

Your skills and experiences:

Essential

  Sound understanding of metrology systems and principles

  Understanding of quality systems (ISO 9001, ISO 17025) and measurement uncertainties

The Calibration team:

The calibration department currently supports 30,000 pieces of TMDE per year, ranging from traditional analogue equipment through to state-of-the-art digital systems. The department supports calibrations in a dedicated laboratory as well on site around the Barrow Submarines Site and Walney Aerodrome. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
