Qualifications

  • NVQ or City & Guilds Level 3 qualified Mechanical Engineer (plumber).
  • Experience with plumbing and maintenance in a commercial or industrial setting.
  • Ability to work in a team dedicated to security and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Work within a Facilities Maintenance Team ensuring smooth operations.
  • Use skills to contribute to a safe environment for staff and prisoners.
  • Support rehabilitation efforts through effective maintenance engineering.

Skills

C&G 6189 Plumbing and domestic heating
Experience with commercial or industrial heating, water, or building systems
Good knowledge of planned preventive maintenance
Knowledge of Water supply regulation and Legionella L8 requirements
Two years' experience as a plumber or equivalent

Education

C&G 6019 Mechanical Engineering services (plumbing)

Job Role: Level 3 Mechanical Engineer (Plumbing)
Location: HMP Eastwood Park, Falfield, Wotton-under-Edge. GL12 8DB
Salary: £41,818.21 per annum
Contract: Full Time - 39 hours per week, Mon-Fri, Permanent

We are seeking an NVQ or City & Guilds Level 3 qualified Mechanical Engineer (plumber) to join our team at HMP Eastwood Park, an adult female prison.

HMP Eastwood Park functions like a self-contained community, and our Facilities Maintenance Team ensures its smooth and safe operation, impacting prisoners, staff, visitors, and the wider community.

As a Level 3 Mechanical Engineer, you will work alongside experienced colleagues including Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, Cleaners, and Administrators, all dedicated to providing a secure environment.

We are a Ministry of Justice business providing critical services to HMPPS, seeking a candidate with qualifications and experience including:

  1. C&G 6189 Plumbing and domestic heating
  2. C&G 5962 certificate in Plumbing (Advanced craft)
  3. C&G 6019 Mechanical Engineering services (plumbing)
  4. C&G 6018 heating and ventilation installation
  5. C&G 6129 certificate in Plumbing
  6. C&G 214 Engineering systems maintenance
  7. C&G 6188 Heating and ventilating
  8. C&G 6088 certificate in heating and ventilating
  9. C&G 6032 the advanced craft certificate in plumbing
  10. EAL Diploma in Plumbing and Heating
  11. Experience with commercial or industrial heating, water, or building systems
  12. Unvented water heater vessel course G3 - Highly desirable
  13. Two years' experience as a plumber or equivalent
  14. Knowledge of Water supply regulation and Legionella L8 requirements
  15. Good knowledge of planned preventive maintenance and health & safety requirements
  16. L8 awareness training - Desirable (provided if required)
