Salary: $71,000-$118,200

Universal Technical Resource Services, Inc. (UTRS) is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team! This position will be responsible for working in a team environment, geared toward the Research, Development, and Engineering of technologies for software and weapon systems.

What will you be doing?

This position will be a key member of the Weapons and Software Engineering Center. Duties include:

  • Provide experience with mechanical engineering support for the development of individual weapon components
  • Support all aspects of design, prototype, testing, and manufacturing
  • Ability to work hands-on and collaborate with the machine shop for prototyping
  • Prepare designs using 3D CAD (Creo) modeling software
  • Document designs using the Army's design standards and GD&T
  • Write test plans and work closely with testing groups
  • Develop and present reports
  • Work with manufacturing teams to develop functional prototypes
  • Support mature designs currently in production
  • This position requires travel up to 25%
What skills will the ideal candidate have to be successful?

This position will require the following skillsets and experience:

  • Must be able to obtain a clearance through the DoD security background investigation process
  • Pass drug and alcohol testing
  • Good mechanical skills and experience
  • Self-starter and able to work autonomously
  • Experience with engineering software, including Creo CAD
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • High standard of quality and efficiency
  • Familiarity with firearms and ammunition is a plus
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of weapons and firearms is a plus
  • Must be a team player, able to multitask and prioritize accordingly
  • Fluent in MS Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Must have a valid NJ driver's license and be able to obtain a government driver's license
  • Must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline
  • Past or present military personnel are encouraged to apply
  • 3-8 years of experience with mechanical engineering or similar discipline
