Salary: £41,818.21 per annum

Contract: Full Time, Permanent

We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to join our team at HMP Lewes, a CAT B Mens Prison.

HMP Lewes operates like a self-contained city, requiring hundreds of staff to keep it functioning. As part of the Facilities Maintenance Team, you will contribute to the smooth and safe operation, impacting prisoners, staff, visitors, and the wider community.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will work alongside experienced colleagues including Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, Cleaners, and Administrators, all dedicated to making a positive difference and providing a secure environment.

We are a Ministry of Justice business providing critical services to HMPPS. We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with:

• Two years’ experience in a plumbing or equivalent role
• Knowledge of Water Supply Regulation and Legionella L8 requirements
• Experience with commercial or industrial heating and water systems
• Understanding of health and safety requirements
• Qualifications: C&G 6035 (Plumbing), C&G 6189 (Plumbing and Heating), or NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent
• Strong health and safety knowledge
• Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
