Salary: £38,333.37 per annum

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to join our team at HMP Lewes, a CAT B Mens Prison. Join a supportive and driven team that works together to create a safe environment. HMP Lewes functions like a self-contained city, and our Facilities Maintenance Team is committed to ensuring smooth and safe operations, impacting prisoners, staff, visitors, and the wider community.

Team Environment

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will work alongside experienced colleagues including Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, Cleaners, and Administrators, all dedicated to making a positive difference and providing a secure environment.

Responsibilities
  • Utilize your skills to contribute to rehabilitation and positive change within the prison environment.
  • Maintain and repair water supply and heating systems in accordance with regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Two years' experience as a plumber or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Water Supply Regulation and Legionella L8 requirements.
  • Experience with commercial or industrial heating and water systems.
  • Qualified to C&G 6035 (Plumbing), C&G 6189 (Plumbing and Heating), and NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent.
  • Good health and safety knowledge.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and people skills.
