Qualifications

  • Relevant plumbing qualifications and experience required.
  • Two years' experience as a plumber or equivalent is essential.
  • Unvented water heater vessel course G3 - Highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a team to maintain and enhance safety within the prison environment.
  • Perform mechanical engineering tasks related to plumbing and heating systems.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and preventative maintenance standards.

Skills

Knowledge of health and safety requirements
Good understanding of planned preventive maintenance
Experience with commercial or industrial heating, water, or building service systems
Two years’ experience as a plumber or equivalent
Knowledge of Water supply regulation and Legionella L8 requirements

Mechanical Engineer (Plumber)

Location: HMP Ford, Ford Rd, Ford, Arundel BN18 0BX

Salary: £41,818.21 per annum

Contract: Full Time, Permanent, 39 hrs per week, Mon-Fri (with on-call)

We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to join our team at HMP Ford, a CAT D Mens prison.

HMP Ford operates like a self-contained city, requiring hundreds of staff to keep it functioning. As part of the Facilities Maintenance Team, we are committed to ensuring smooth and safe operations, impacting prisoners, staff, visitors, and the wider community.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will collaborate with experienced colleagues including Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, Cleaners, and Administrators, all dedicated to providing a safe environment.

  • C&G 6019 Mechanical Engineering services (plumbing)
  • C&G 6018 Heating and ventilation installation
  • C&G 6129 Certificate in Plumbing
