Job Role: Mechanical Engineer (Maintenance Plumber) Location: HMP Feltham (TW13) Salary: £41,000 per annum + 5% for shift work covering weekends Contract: Permanent, 39 hours per week, Monday to Sunday

We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to join our team at HMP Feltham, a category C prison and YOI for young people from 15 to 30 years old. Join a team that works Monday to Sunday on shifts, fostering a supportive environment. HMP Feltham operates like a self-contained city, requiring many staff to keep it functioning. Our Facilities Maintenance Team is committed to ensuring smooth and safe operations, impacting prisoners, staff, visitors, and the wider community.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will work alongside experienced colleagues including Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, and Cleaners, all dedicated to maintaining a safe environment. We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with:

  • At least two years’ experience as a plumber or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Water Supply Regulation and Legionella L8 requirements

  • Qualifications: C&G 6035 (Plumbing), C&G 6189 (Plumbing and Heating), NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent
  • Good health and safety knowledge
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
