Job Overview

We are seeking a Level 3 qualified Plumber to join our team at HMP East Sutton Park, a CATEGORY D & Female prison, as a Mechanical Engineer.

Join a supportive team working Monday to Friday to create a safe and nurturing environment. HMP East Sutton Park operates like a self-contained town, requiring hundreds of staff to maintain its functions. Our Facilities Maintenance Team is dedicated to ensuring smooth and safe operations, impacting prisoners, staff, visitors, and the wider community.

Team and Environment

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will work alongside experienced colleagues including Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, Cleaners, and Administrators, all committed to providing a safe environment.

Candidate Profile

If you wish to use your skills to make a positive difference and support rehabilitation, we encourage you to apply. We are part of the Ministry of Justice, providing critical services to HMPPS, and seek a Plumber with the following qualifications and experience:

  • C&G 6189 Plumbing and domestic heating
  • C&G 5962 certificate in Plumbing (Advanced craft)
  • C&G 6019 Mechanical Engineering services (plumbing)
  • C&G 6018 Heating and ventilation installation
  • C&G 6129 certificate in Plumbing
  • C&G 214 Engineering systems maintenance
  • C&G 6188 Heating and ventilating
  • C&G 6088 certificate in heating and ventilating
  • C&G 6032 the advanced craft certificate in plumbing
  • EAL Diploma in Plumbing and Heating
  • Experience in commercial or industrial heating, water, or building service systems
  • Unvented water heater vessel course G3 (highly desirable)
  • Two years' experience as a plumber or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Water supply regulation and Legionella L8 requirements
  • Knowledge of planned preventive maintenance operations
  • Understanding of health and safety standards
  • L8 awareness training (desirable)
