Job description

Job Role: Mechanical Engineer

Location: HMP Bullingdon, OX25

Salary: £41,000 per annum

Contract: Permanent, 39 hours per week

We are seeking a Level 3 qualified Plumber to join our team at HMP Bullingdon, a category B male prison. Join a supportive and driven team working Monday to Friday to create a safe environment. HMP Bullingdon functions like a self-contained city, requiring hundreds of staff to maintain operations. As part of the Facilities Maintenance Team, you will contribute to the safe and smooth operation of the facility, impacting prisoners, staff, visitors, and the wider community.

You will work alongside experienced colleagues such as Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, Cleaners, and Administrators, all dedicated to making a positive difference and providing a secure environment. Requirements:

  • At least two years’ experience as a plumber or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Water Supply Regulation and Legionella L8 requirements
  • Experience with commercial or industrial heating and water systems
  • Good understanding of health and safety standards
  • Qualified to C&G 6035 (Plumbing), C&G 6189 (Plumbing and Heating), and NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent
  • Strong health and safety knowledge
  • Excellent organizational and people skills
