Mechanical/Steam/HTHW Engineer

Location: HMP Swaleside, Brabazon Rd, Eastchurch, Isle of Sheppey ME12 4AX

Salary: £38,333.37 per annum

Contract: Full Time, Permanent

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Engineer - Mech/Steam/HTHW to join our team at HMP Swaleside, a Cat B Men's prison. Join a team that works together to create a safe and nurturing environment, functioning like a self-contained city.

About Us

We are a Ministry of Justice business providing critical services to HMPPS, supporting the safe operation of prisons and aiding in prisoner reintegration into society.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain steam boilers and water systems in compliance with regulations
  • Ensure safety and efficiency of boiler operations
  • Collaborate with other maintenance team members to support prison operations
Minimum Requirements
  • Two years' experience as a steam boiler operator or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Water Supply Regulation and Legionella L8 requirements
  • Familiarity with BG01 safety standards for boilers
  • Experience with commercial or industrial steam, heating, and water systems
  • Qualified plumber (C&G 6035, C&G 6189, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
  • BOAS accredited boiler operator course or equivalent
  • Good Health & Safety knowledge
  • Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
