Job Description

The Payin Platform team owns the systems through which all money flows into Wise, whether that’s to top-up an account, send money across borders, or help our customers receive money from their customers. Payin is a critical component of the Wise money-movement machine, and we’re looking for an engineer motivated to help us build it.

The Payin Platform is an internal API product that makes it easy for teams to build on our platform and help Wise customers pay in new ways and for new features and services. Examples include topping up a USD balance by paying in BRL with Pix, or a UK business requesting payment from a Hungarian business and allowing payment in HUF with a credit card. Our API facilitates these inflows and provides a unified view of the money movement across various use cases.

Qualifications

What does it take?

• A strong product mindset and passion for user experience, prioritizing work with the customers in mind and making data-driven decisions to address pain points.
• Great communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Leadership skills to inspire and guide your engineering team to build the right things in the right way.
• Ability to coordinate efforts across multiple teams and organizations, involving cross-team collaboration.
• Skill in breaking down complex projects into incremental milestones that deliver customer value.
• Experience developing web applications and distributed systems in a production environment.
• Familiarity with common design and architectural patterns, and a passion for writing clean, performant, and well-tested code.
• Curiosity and a drive for continuous learning and improvement.
• Knowledge of best coding practices, continuous delivery, and code reviews.
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases, query optimization, and schema design is a plus.
• Knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, and experience with messaging systems like Kafka is a plus.
