Job summary

Adecco Portugal is seeking an experienced Interior Door Trim Engineer for a hybrid role in Crewe. You will design and develop door trim systems for luxury automotive OEMs, taking components from concept through to production while collaborating with suppliers and internal teams.

The role requires CATIA V5 expertise, experience with automotive interior trims, and an ability to deliver designs that meet quality, cost and timing targets on multiple vehicle programs.

Engineer - Interior Door Trim (Contract)

Location: Crewe (Hybrid - minimum 3 days onsite)

Rate: £33.10 per hour PAYE

Contract: ASAP - 31/03/2027 (potential extension)

Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday-Friday

Core Hours: 09:30-14:30 with flexibility around these hours

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Interior Door Trim Engineer to support the design and development of door trim systems for a luxury automotive OEM. The role will involve taking components from concept through to production, working closely with internal teams and suppliers to deliver high-quality interior trim solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop interior door trim systems and components from concept through to production.
• Create and review component designs using CATIA V5.
• Produce and review engineering drawings and support release activities.
• Design and develop leather-wrapped interior trim components.
• Manage engineering activities with suppliers and external design partners.
• Lead and participate in cross-functional design reviews.
• Generate innovative engineering solutions to design challenges.
• Support test and validation planning and engineering sign-off activities.
• Ensure designs meet quality, timing, cost and regulatory requirements.
• Support programme delivery across multiple vehicle projects.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Automotive product design and development experience.
• Proven experience designing interior trim systems, ideally door trim.
• Advanced working knowledge of CATIA V5.
• Experience creating and reviewing engineering drawings.
• Experience managing suppliers and external engineering partners.
• Strong understanding of automotive product development processes.
• Ability to solve complex engineering and design-related problems.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently and lead activities without direct reports.
• Experience delivering components from concept through production release.

Desirable Experience

• Previous OEM experience (Bentley, JLR, Aston Martin, McLaren, VW Group or similar).
• Experience with Tier 1 automotive suppliers delivering trim systems.
• Knowledge of Systems Engineering / V-Model development processes.
• Understanding of VW Group systems and processes.
• Financial and commercial awareness.
• Experience working on luxury vehicle interiors.

Qualifications

Degree qualified in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline (preferred and highly desirable).
