Here, your natural talent and achievements will flourish in an inclusive environment of teamwork, trust, and continuous learning. We pursue excellence to exceed our goals, rewarding both outcomes and the manner in which we achieve them.

Purpose

This position is responsible for designing, engineering, and managing gas system construction projects, including complex gas delivery systems. Gas Engineers provide designs for replacing aging or inadequate infrastructure and expanding to new customers. They coordinate with internal groups and external agencies to develop project scope and facilitate field construction. Gas Engineers also support operations through on-call engineering, contingency support, and equipment failure analysis.

Accountabilities
  1. Plan, design, develop, implement, and manage gas delivery system projects, including new services, main extensions, relays, relocations, and installations like regulator stations and crossings. Ensure designs meet milestones and stakeholder requirements, often serving as both design engineer and project manager.
  2. Provide quality designs for construction and mapping teams, supporting franchise expansion into new service territories.
  3. Secure permits and licenses from municipalities and state agencies as required before construction.
  4. Ensure technical requirements such as system pressure, flow, and operating conditions are met.
  5. Assist in analyzing system pressure and operating parameters, including leak history.
Continued Accountabilities
  1. Apply company standards and industry codes to designs.
  2. Prepare accurate cost estimates and secure project approvals.
  3. Provide off-hours/on-call support, especially during storms and system contingencies.
  4. Participate in meetings with customers, municipalities, and regulatory agencies as the company's Gas Project Engineering Representative.
  5. Support engineering and operations teams as needed.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in gas system design, estimating, project management, or operations support is preferred.
  • Registration as an Engineer in Training is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work within a team.
  • Knowledge of gas operations, protection systems, industry codes, and utility practices is advantageous.
  • Experience with GIS maps and as-built records.
  • Understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Motivated, self-starting, and adaptable to a fast-paced environment.
