Job summary

COWI is expanding its Infrastructure Design team in the UK. The role focuses on delivering highways and drainage design across multidisciplinary projects, with secondment to HS2 for on-site experience in the first year. You will work with specialists to develop sustainable, buildable solutions.

You will collaborate with clients and authorities, ensuring design quality, standards compliance, and efficient delivery while developing technical skills under senior guidance.

Qualifications

• Degree in civil engineering or equivalent.
• Working towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) or IEng.
• Effective verbal and written communication in English.
• Hold a full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Develop infrastructure designs across highways, drainage, utilities and related disciplines from concept to detailed design.
• Prepare and review calculations, drawings, specifications and design reports.
• Coordinate with engineers and technicians to deliver integrated solutions.
• Engage with clients, authorities, contractors and statutory undertakers.
• Support project managers with programme, resources and commercial objectives.
• Undertake site visits and provide construction-phase support.
• Apply CDM requirements and design risk assessments.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians.
• Contribute to standards, digital delivery and best practice.

Civil engineering degree
