You will develop and maintain data pipelines using SQL, Python, and cloud platforms, ensure data quality and governance, and collaborate across engineering, analytics, and business teams.

What you’ll be doing
Success in this role means delivering reliable, high-quality data solutions while continually developing your technical and business knowledge. You’ll take increasing ownership of your work, collaborate effectively across teams, apply strong data quality, security and governance practices, and demonstrate a growth mindset by embracing new technologies and challenges.
You will develop and maintain data pipelines to ingest, transform and deliver data, writing clean, reliable and maintainable code in line with agreed engineering standards. The role involves building and supporting data tables, models and data products based on defined requirements, while performing data validation and quality checks to ensure outputs are accurate and complete. You will investigate and resolve data issues and pipeline failures, escalating more complex problems when required, and use engineering tools and platforms such as SQL, Python, Databricks and cloud technologies where relevant to the role.
You will follow established development, testing, deployment and change-control processes and create and maintain appropriate technical documentation. A key part of the role is understanding and applying data security, access and governance requirements while working collaboratively with engineers, analysts, product teams and business stakeholders. You will participate in code reviews, testing and team delivery activities, taking ownership of well-defined engineering tasks and delivering them to agreed quality standards and timelines.
The role also requires developing a strong understanding of the business domain and underlying data, not just the technical solution. You will build your technical capability through learning, feedback and hands‑on delivery, contribute ideas for automation, simplification and continuous improvement, and demonstrate increasing independence while seeking guidance appropriately for more complex engineering decisions. You will also stay connected to developments in AI and analytics, translating relevant advances into practical opportunities for Nationwide.
