What you’ll be doing

As a Cloud Engineer (API & Data), you will be helping shape the Customer Experience & Automation platforms. This group is part of the Chief data & analytics office (CDAO) and part of the overall COO team in Nationwide.

Our Cloud Engineers are team players with a great level of technical understanding, so you’ll be comfortable managing the technical requirements, be they on or offshore. You’ll work with colleagues across the society to deliver the Customer Experience, Automation Platform for Nationwide.

You can expect to work alongside experts in digital, banking, security, risk and card services, as well as colleagues who understand how our branch systems work and how best to deliver exceptional service. Above all, we’ll give you the accountable freedom you’ll need to propose and deliver the best solution for our members.

About you

For the role of Cloud Engineer API & Data , we are looking for a demonstrated track record of the end-to-end technical understanding, knowledge, and optimisation of an organisation's technology platform or platforms in Financial Services, or other similar regulated sectors. That means we expect you to have skills in the following:

  • Experience in developing API using Java /Python, Data using Pyspark / Azure data factory / AWS glue and E2E automated Devops using IaaC
  • Experience as a Cloud Engineer across multiple projects especially in Customer communications, Automation & CDD/KYC functional area involving the strong knowledge of API & Data design principles
  • Proficient in the Spring boot, cloud, and other API development frameworks
  • Strong Hands on ETL frameworks like ADF/AWS Glue or Pyspark and basic knowledge of the bigdata / AI-ML technologies
  • Must have experience and knowledge of one of the following relational databases: Oracle/DB2/MS SQL, and one of the no SQL databases like Scylla /Mongo DB/Dynamo DB
  • Experience with API gateway , ECS , EKS , Storage gateway, EC2, RDS ,S3, secret manager and Cloud networking AWS services, deployment using terraform IaaC. Knowledge of Aws connect, knowledge Buddy and Colleague systems application integration experience would be add on.
