Job summary

Aspion Search is seeking a Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer (electrically biased) for our busy Wirral manufacturing site. You will act as the electrical specialist, fault-finding PLCs, motors and drives, and support planned maintenance, breakdowns and projects.

This is a full-time role with rotating double-day shifts. You will work with production teams to drive continuous improvement while ensuring safe engineering practices on site.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprenticeship or Level 3 in Electrical Engineering.
• Strong electrical fault-finding, repair and installation skills.
• Solid mechanical maintenance knowledge with willingness to do mechanical work.
• Five years’ engineering experience in manufacturing.
• Safety-focused and proactive approach.

Responsibilities

• Complete electrical fault finding and repairs across PLCs, motors, drives, sensors and control panels.
• Undertake hands-on mechanical maintenance involving conveyors, pumps, pneumatics and bearings.
• Respond quickly to breakdowns to minimise downtime.
• Complete planned preventative maintenance and improvements.
• Assist with site upgrades and new electrical installations.
• Support installation, commissioning and improvement of production equipment.
• Work with production teams to identify faults and drive continuous improvement.
• Ensure all work is safe and in line with site procedures.

Shift Pattern: Rotating Double Days

Week 1: Monday–Friday, 6:00am–2:00pm

Week 2: Monday–Thursday, 2:00pm–10:30pm and Friday, 8:00am–2:00pm

Salary: Competitive – shift allowance included

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

We are recruiting an experienced Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer to join a busy manufacturing operation.

You will act as the site’s electrical specialist when issues arise, while also supporting planned maintenance, production breakdowns, equipment upgrades and engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete electrical fault finding and repairs across PLCs, motors, drives, sensors and control panels.
• Undertake hands‑on mechanical maintenance involving conveyors, pumps, pneumatics and bearings.
• Respond quickly and effectively to breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
• Complete planned preventative maintenance and support equipment reliability improvements.
• Assist with site upgrades, modifications and new electrical installations.
• Support the installation, commissioning and improvement of production equipment.
• Work closely with production teams to identify faults and drive continuous improvement.
• Ensure all engineering work is completed safely and in line with site procedures.

About You

To be considered for this position, you will ideally have:

• A time-served apprenticeship or Level 3 qualification in Electrical Engineering.
• Strong electrical fault‑finding, repair and installation skills.
• Solid mechanical maintenance knowledge and a willingness to complete predominantly mechanical work.
• At least five years’ engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
• A safety‑focused and proactive approach.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Knowledge of Total Productive Maintenance principles.
• Experience within chemical, food or another regulated manufacturing environment.
• An understanding of DSEAR or ATEX regulations.
• Familiarity with Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement or CMMS systems.
