Job summary

Talent Guardian is recruiting for a hands-on Engineer to join the Production Engineering team in North Shields. The role focuses on servicing, maintenance and fault-finding across production and packaging machinery to keep a busy site running smoothly. You will respond to breakdowns, support PPM, operate lines when required, and contribute to continuous improvement. Rotating shifts with overtime offer progression within the business.

Qualifications

• Experience with production, packaging machinery.
• Hands-on maintenance and fault-finding experience.
• Electrical qualification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs across production and warehouse machinery.
• Attend breakdowns, diagnose issues and escalate as required.
• Support Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) activities.
• Operate production lines when required, including machine set-up, running, packing and line checks.
• Record servicing, maintenance and breakdown information accurately.
• Identify opportunities to improve machinery performance, reliability and production efficiency.
• Support Continuous Improvement activities across the site.
• Train operators and production staff in basic equipment maintenance.
• Assist with the maintenance of the factory, warehouse and office facilities.
• Work closely with Production to minimise downtime and maintain efficient output.
• Support contractors and order engineering spares when required.
• Follow all health, safety, hygiene and food manufacturing standards.

Engineer North Shields | £42,000-£43,000 + Overtime | Full-Time | Rotating Shifts

Talent Guardian is recruiting on behalf of a well-established food manufacturer for a hands-on Engineer to join their Production Engineering team.

This is a great opportunity for someone with experience working with production machinery who enjoys fault-finding, maintenance and keeping a busy manufacturing environment running smoothly.

You'll work closely with both Engineering and Production, taking responsibility for maintaining machinery, responding to breakdowns and supporting continuous improvement across the site.

What you'll be doing

What we're looking for

• Previous experience working with production, manufacturing or packaging machinery.
• Hands-on maintenance, servicing and fault-finding experience.
• An electrical qualification would be advantageous.
• Experience within food, FMCG, packaging or another fast-paced manufacturing environment would be beneficial.
• Experience with machinery such as IMA, Ilapak, Marden Edwards, Fuso, Bradman Lake or Fuji flow wrappers would be a bonus.
• A proactive, self-motivated approach with a willingness to learn.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working within a busy production environment.
• Flexibility to work rotational shifts, including earlies and lates.
