Job summary

ABM is seeking an on-site Fabric Engineer to maintain and repair facilities for the London Fire Brigade estate, working Monday to Friday. The role covers carpentry, tiling, glazing, plastering and general building works, with emphasis on safety, accurate quoting and proper paperwork for invoicing.

You will manage lifecycle replacements, perform fire door inspections per SFG20, and ensure quality across mechanical, electrical and building fabric tasks.

Qualifications

• Essential Skills & Experience include carpentry and painting/plastering.
• Locksmith courses and trades qualifications are desirable.
• L8 Awareness, IPAF and PASMA certificates are noted as desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Conduct maintenance and repair on the London Fire Brigade estate.
• Ensure Health & Safety on site and follow method statements and risk assessments.
• Complete standard maintenance within mechanical, electrical and building trades.
• Provide accurate quotes above threshold for submission.
• Complete paperwork on site and obtain customer signatures for invoicing.
• Prepare engineers’ worksheets with full details of required work.
• Identify lifecycle replacement requirements.
• Perform fire door inspections per SFG20, locksmith repairs, tiling and glazing tasks.
• Carry out plastering, painting repairs, and general carpentry/handyman duties.

SHIFT PATTERN: Mon- Fri, 40 hours per week

• You will be utilising your core skills asanFabric Engineerto conduct vital Maintenance and repair to the London Fire Brigade estate.

• Responsible for own Health & Safety on site and follow Method Statements and Risk Assessments as standard on all sites, highlighting specific requirements asrequired.

• Assistwith the completion of standard maintenance and repair within the Mechanical, Electrical & Building Fabric trades.
• Provideaccuratequotes above comprehensive threshold toan accuratestandard for a quote submission.
• Completing all necessary paperwork for the customer whilst on site and obtaining a customer’s signature to enable the job attended to be invoiced without anydelays.

• Completing engineer’s worksheet in full, giving full details of plant that requiresadditionalwork.

• Identifyinglifecycle replacement requirements.

• Conduct Fire Door inspections in line with SFG20 requirements.

• Conduct locksmith repair and replace requirements.

• Conduct Tiling Repairs and new installations.

• Glazing Repairs.

• Plastering & Painting repairs/light installations.

• General Carpentry/Handyman duties.
