Job summary

Sodexo is seeking a Multi Skilled Technician/Engineer for DEFRA BCP, Sevington, Kent. The role involves carrying out PPMs and reactive repairs, basic building maintenance and assisting with safety and quality procedures.

You will join a team ensuring efficient operations in a government facilities environment. Essential requirements include a mechanical/electrical building services background, 5+ years post‑experience, DBS clearance, driving licence and flexibility for day/night rotations.

Qualifications

Qualification in or knowledge of Mechanical & Electrical Building Services.
Experience as an engineer with at least 5 years in a similar environment.
Able to diagnose faults and implement rectification measures.
Experience working in building maintenance and lifecycle management.
Willing to participate in on-call duties and shift rotations (days/nights).
Pass Baseline Personnel Security Standard (DBS) vetting and hold a valid UK driving license.

Responsibilities

Carry out planned preventive maintenance and reactive repairs.
Perform general building fabric maintenance tasks.
Replace light bulbs and other basic mechanical/electrical tasks.
Maintain records per company procedures.
Work collaboratively with team members.
Ensure health, safety and environmental requirements are met.
Keep PPE and tools in safe, good working order.
Attend training and toolbox talks.
Keep work areas clean and orderly.

We are now seeking an Multi Skilled Technician/Engineer to join our team at DEFRA BCP, Sevington, Kent, TN25 6GE

What you’ll do:

Carryout PPM and reactive repairs as required in line with skill set and qualifications.
General handyman tasks as required, to include basic building fabric maintenance and repair.
Replacement of light bulbs and other unskilled mechanical and electrical tasks.
Assist in ensuring all records are kept in line with company procedures.
Collaborative working with other team members.
To be responsible for all aspects of Health and Safety and the Environment on work activities to ensure actions comply in accordance with statutory and contractual requirements.
To comply at all times with the Company's Quality Assurance and Health and Safety Procedures and to ensure that all work is undertaken in accordance with the Industry's best practices.
Ensure issued PPE, tools and equipment is in a safe and good working order.
Attend training sessions, toolbox talks and meetings as required.
To ensure that all areas in which work is undertaken are kept in a clean and tidy condition,

What you bring:

Essential

Qualification in or Knowledge of Mechanical & Electrical Building Services
Experienced Engineer with at least 5 years’ relevant post experience in a similar environment
Able to diagnose faults and put forward and complete appropriate rectification measures
Able to establish necessary parts/plant/materials necessary for completion of tasks
Ability to Multi-task across mechanical, electrical and building discipline’s at a basic level
Experience of working within a Building Maintenance Organisation
A good understanding of the interrelationship between assets and their maintenance and lifecycle requirements.
Flexibility with shift rotations – Days & night shifts.
Able to represent Sodexo both internally and externally with clients
Take part in out-of-hours duty roster/on call
Pass the Baseline Personnel Security Standard vetting which includes DBS certification
Hold a valid UK driving license

Desirable

Additional qualifications and experience in other building-related trades would be advantageous
Asbestos Awareness
CSCS Certificate
Educated to HNC/HND or equivalent experience in an Engineering or Building discipline.
Experience with Personal Digital Assistant (PDA’s) systems
