Job summary

A leading engineering firm in the UK is seeking an Engine Validation Engineer for a 12-month contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for mechanical verification of diesel engines and managing validation processes. This role includes collaboration with global teams and may require occasional travel. Strong experience in engine validation, FMEA, and technical reporting is essential for success.

Job description

Engine Validation Engineer

Duration: 12 Months

Location: Stafford

Key Responsibilities:
  • Mechanical verification and validation of diesel engines, components, and systems.
  • Define and manage engine, system, and component validation plans.
  • Coordinate daily engineering activities and manage testing and analysis activities.
  • Conduct failure analysis and resolve defects using industry-standard methods.
  • Prepare technical reports.
  • Ensure all work complies with Perkins operating procedures and local standards to meet quality requirements.
  • Support the design team through FMEA processes.
  • Collaborate with platform teams at Stafford & Aurangabad facilities.
  • Work closely with global Caterpillar facilities.
  • Occasional overseas travel may be required based on business needs.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
  • Engineering degree or equivalent qualification/experience.
  • Experience in engine validation from diesel, petrol, or gas engines.
  • Experience in FMEA, validation plan development, and work/test instructions.
  • Familiarity with the 8D method and root cause analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of industrial diesel engine systems, including fuel systems, cooling, turbocharging, and lubrication.
  • Experience with data analysis tools such as CANape or Osiris.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Strong technical reporting skills.
