Job summary

Matchtech is seeking an experienced Aircraft Engine Technician Team Leader in the United Kingdom to supervise a 12-member Engine Technician team while performing hands-on engine maintenance on Pratt & Whitney Canada engines. The role combines technical leadership with day-to-day operations and quality control in a highly regulated aerospace environment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out engine repairs, refurbishment, hot section inspections and line maintenance on Pratt & Whitney Canada engines.

• Collaborate with the MRO Engine Planner to ensure work scopes are prepared correctly and engines are completed on schedule.
• Manage engine projects from initial customer contact to preparation of reports.
• Check in, disassemble, inspect, clean and reassemble engines per approved scopes and data.
• Maintain technical packs and release certificates.
• Support holiday requests, timesheet approvals and return-to-work interviews.
• Communicate with customers regarding progress, requirements, costs and scope changes.

Job description

This hands-on role combines aircraft engine maintenance with the day-to-day leadership and operational coordination of a team of 12 Engine Technicians.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out engine repairs, refurbishment, hot section inspections and line maintenance on Pratt & Whitney Canada aircraft engines.
• Lead and support the Engine Technician team, allocating and prioritising tasks while monitoring progress, quality and delivery schedules.
• Work closely with the MRO Engine Planner to ensure work scopes are prepared correctly and engines are completed and released on schedule.
• Manage engine projects from initial customer contact through to the preparation of commercial and technical reports.
• Check in, disassemble, inspect, clean and assemble engines in accordance with approved work scopes, technical data and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate technical packs and work files, recording detailed work performed and completing engine release certificates where required.
• Support people management activities, including holiday requests, timesheet approval, return-to-work interviews and operational cover.
• Communicate with customers regarding work progress, technical requirements, cost estimates and any changes to agreed scopes.

Job Requirements:

• Significant experience in aircraft maintenance, engine maintenance or an aerospace MRO environment.
• In-depth technical knowledge of Pratt & Whitney Canada engines and relevant regulatory and airworthiness requirements.
• Experience with Pratt & Whitney Canada turbofan engines, such as the PW300, PW500, PW600 or PW800 series, would be advantageous.
• Understanding of engine inspection, disassembly, component assessment, repair, refurbishment and assembly processes.
• Ability to interpret technical documentation and use appropriate hand tools and precision measuring equipment.
• Strong planning, organisation and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple engine work scopes.

• Confident leadership skills and the ability to support, mentor and motivate a technical team.
