Job summary

West Lancashire College is seeking an English Lecturer for a fixed-term contract. The role concentrates on teaching and assessing Functional Skills and GCSE English for learners across programmes, with responsibilities for lesson planning, feedback, tutorials and keeping progress records.

The post involves 35 hours per week in a further/higher education setting, and requires pre-employment checks including an enhanced DBS. Commitment to safeguarding and professional development is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject and recognised teaching qualification.
• Evidence of Level 2 English and Maths (GCSE or equivalent).
• Experience in teaching Functional Skills and GCSE English is essential.

Responsibilities

• Teach and assess Functional Skills and GCSE English across programmes.
• Plan engaging, inclusive lessons with clear learning outcomes.
• Provide constructive feedback and monitor learner progress.
• Deliver tutorials and support academic/personal development.
• Maintain accurate progress records and manage assessments.
• Support curriculum development and quality assurance activities.
• Collaborate with colleagues and external partners to enhance learning.
• Uphold safeguarding, equality and health & safety policies.
